Jake Deptula is my guest and I had a great time visiting with him. Jake is a producer, writer and admitted ‘Pop Culture Junkie.’ He’s closing out a great year with his production partner, Olu Odebunmi, and I’m really looking forward to seeing where their talent takes them in 2019.

Jake has some great insights into the skill set he feels is most needed for surviving and thriving in Hollywood today. His wisdom is well earned and he has a terrific way of encapsulating his experiences so that other creatives might benefit. It was a positive conversation with an inspiring guy.

At about the halfway mark, Jake lays out a detailed assessment of his personal journey that I felt really hit home for all of us who travel the path of creative professionals in the industry. Also, this is our first episode that closes with The Lightning Round, three questions that answer, once and for all, age old philosophical musings.—Then again, maybe they don’t. But it was still fun.

Jake and I met up at Priscilla’s Coffee in Burbank/Toluca Lake. It’s a great place and when you hear the beans grinding in the background you can almost taste the delicious blend.
