"Now There's Something Going On"
Episode #4 of the Hollywood AWAC podcast is available at Apple Podcasts, on our Facebook page or right here at HollywoodAWAC.com.
My guest is acting coach Dave Abbitt. I caught up with Dave, one afternoon, at his home where we began an in-depth conversation about the craft of acting and how actors can overcome self-limiting beliefs and grow as artists.
A few weeks before recording the show, I sat in on a class that Dave was teaching at the Raven Playhouse in North Hollywood. It was great seeing him work as he guided talented students into finding deeper emotional resonance within their scenes. If acting is the process of finding and exposing the layers, then the techniques Dave shared with the actors he coaches should be in every performer’s tool box.
The actor’s journey is a difficult one. Still, working hard and perfecting the craft can be an exhilarating and positive experience. Los Angeles has many great acting coaches and, rest assured, the best of them create supportive and collaborative environments in which students can explore the boundaries of their talent. By that measure, Dave Abbitt is one of the very best.
This was a fun show to do. I was nodding a lot and we had some good laughs. Be sure to reach out to Dave if you have any questions about classes or the craft. He can be reached at: www.dascenestudy.com
I hope you enjoy the conversation!
